Angelo Lombardo is Assistant Professor at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University (UniSR) and Group Leader at the San Raffaele Telethon Institute for Gene Therapy (SR-Tiget), Milan, Italy. Dr. Lombardo is a pioneer in the filed gene editing, publishing seminal studies demonstrating editing in clinically relevant cell types, including human embryonic and hematopoietic stem cells. Additionally, Lombardo and his team were the first to develop a hit-and-run approach for targeted epigenetic silencing, showing durable and highly-efficient epigenetic silencing in multiple cell types. Dr. Lombardo is an inventor on several patent applications and has received several distinctions for his work, including the Young Investigator Award from the ESGCT and the Excellence in Research Award from the ASGCT. He received his Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from UniSR and the Open University (UK).
